Chiva Falls, Tucson, AZ (Aug 23th Saturday)

     Hi All,

Just putting some feelers out there for anyone interested in running Chivo falls down here in Tucson, not this coming weekend but the next the weekend of the 23th of Aug.  This trail is great and varies in difficulty with bypasses on most of the difficult obstacles.  Any 4x4 with good ground clearance and a few skid plates should do ok.  The trail can be harder if there have been very recent rains as there are a few areas where there can be water crossings, altough not too deep.  If there has been recent rain and depending on how long before hitting this trail, the falls can be spectacular. This is a great all day trail with good screnery and challenging trails.  Most people just go to the bottom of the falls, but there is also a trail to the top with a short hike after ascending the hill which my better half, Lisa, refers to as oh-sh*t hill. It's a fun and exciting trail.  Lets make some time and hit it.  Craig

Craig, I'd love to get down there and run it, I've been wanting to do that trail for a long time (as well as Chimney Rock, which I think is just northeast of there). I won't be able to make that weekend but I hope to get down there eventually. I've actually been wanting to explore the Ironwood National Monument area also when it gets cooler... you might be interested in that since it's only 30 miles north of Tucson.

So don't get discouraged... we've had trips completely fall apart and ones where there was only 1 or 2 people. I hope others can join with you and make it a go because I know it's a nice area. Good Luck and Have Fun!

If the Zuki is ready I'm in. I'll tow it down and we'll see how it does.

I am still interested in running this and hope as many can come as possible.  If you can't make it this time there is always next, and I have been on this one a few times and each time had a good time.  My cell number is 520-245-2295 for anyone needing it.

I would like to do this run and that weekend would be perfect. Lets see if anyone else is interested in coming. I know Dustin wants to explore the area and he should have a new radiator installed in his jeep on Saturday.

Have you considered doing the Charouleau Cap Trail?

I have been wanting to do the Charouleau Gap trail, but haven't found the time or people to hit it with.  Soon maybe.

Pirate Queen and I would like to go but aren't going to be able to make it as we are still re-cooping from our run to the Woodpecker Trail yesterday with Ryan and Damion. Have to do a little work on Ruby and try and fix a overheating problem that arose on the trail. Wanna get Ruby up and running good for the Payson run to Pyaett Draw later this month.

Good luck with the over hearting problem Ruby Can. You may want to see if Shad has any suggestions in the "Ask Shad" forum".

06RubicAn, I cannot make this run. I have a transmission problem that I need to work out this weekend. I there another weekend that you would be able to go?

I can plan as far as the weekend of the 22nd of August.  I am off starting the 21st all the way to the 27th of August.  I hope your trany problems aren't bad and $$$$.  I am still planning on running Chivo falls this weekend and maybe even Chimmney rock since it is in the same area.  I have not been to Chimney rock yet.  It looks like fun in the youtube videos.  I hope others can still make it this weekend.  If not, there is always next.  let me know if anyone can go.

Craig, I cant make it this weekend. The tranny problem is taken care of but I need some R&R and still have a few minor repairs to get done this weekend. Have you considered doing the other runs planned this month?

I understand, I will try and make one of the other runs coming up.  I am in the process of adding on-board air to my jeep today, any tips?
