    Coma:

Now that looks like a good time!

Did that Dodge find another way to make it out?

Why is it that us Jeep owners are always winching and pulling pick ups out of the rivers here in Arizona?Hmm

Hey Ryan, is the backway to Coke Ovens called Battleaxe?

Candi, what's the deal with Bulldog Canyon? You need a permit? What's it like there?

PS... a few pics added to the original post

Yes, Battleaxe Rd is the start to the eastern entrance of the Coke Ovens via Superior. I don't recommend it as a route - too long. I would though recommend walnut canyon for hiking. You can drive it as long as you can descend a 45 degree drop that is about six feet deep.

You do need a permit to obtain the combo for the gate. The Mesa Ranger Station issues them free of charge.

I may be taking the Salt River Canyon again next weekend. Will let everyone know as soon as I get something put together.

I really like bulldog canyon. Its an easier trip. The scenery is beautiful! We went not too long ago. You do need a permit as Ryan said. Mine just ran out or Id let ya borrow mine. You Can get it at the Tonto forest station on higley and Mckellips. Its just south of Mckellips on the west side....1st street . Bulldog is alittle rocky so its a bumpy ride but theres no real " challenges" Comes out by the Bridge at the salt river. There are alot of Horse riders all over there and they HATE the  4x4 traffic.... We took out one of Lees friends from his work and he broke his 4 wheel drive....probably broke it before we even went on this trip. Theres one climb up out of a wash that he couldnt make in 2 wheel drive...so we had to winch him out and had to go back the other way. I dont see any problems for you making it at all. If you go let me know, we can go too....I havent been out in awhile and Im like a junkie at this point....
