    Nice site

Hi, my name is Brad and I'm a Jeepaholic.  Found this site through a link over on AZVJC.  I'm a webwheeling junky just as much as a wheeling junky and I am always looking for new sites.  This place looks pretty cool.  I look forward to contributing.

    Current State

I love the history that this state has to offer and wheel anything as long as it means getting on the dirt.

Welcome to the site! Its nice to meet someone who has the addition too as I am a Jeepoholic as well. That’s a nice rig, what mods do you have? Also, what trails do you frequent?

    Re: Nice site

Thanks for the welcome.  I'm on my 3rd TJ (Hence the Jeepaholic).  I started out with a bottom of the barrel 1997 SE with the 4 banger.  I then upgraded that with a 2003 X model.  It had everything that I wanted based on what little Jeep knowledge that I had at the time.  Once I had that built to the maximum that the platform could handle (i.e. Dana 30 front / Dana 35 rear with 35" tires) I traded it in for my 2005 Rubicon.  My reasoning was that it was a lot cheaper to lift a Rubicon than it was to buy axles/gear/lockers and a 4:1 Transfercase for the X.  I've got something like 40k miles on the Rubi in a little over a year.  These are my specs so far:

    1. Automatic Transmission
    2. 4.0L Straight Six
    3. Dana 44 Front (Air Locker)(4.11 gears)(Superior Evolution Shafts)
    4. Dana 44 Rear (Air Locker/LSD)(4.11 gears)(Stock Shafts for now)
    5. 4:1 Transfercase
    6. Big Daddy Tie Rod
    7. 35" Goodyear MTR's
    8. Stock Moab Rims with 2" Spacers for a total of 3" Back Spacing
    9. 3" Teraflex Coils
    10. Rubicon Express Monotube Shocks
    11. Dave's Rack by Olympic
    12. Lowrance Baja 480c w/ 1gb memory card
    13. Cobra CB w/ 4ft Firestick
    14. Flatfendered Front and Flareless in the Rear

I'll honestly wheel just about anything.  I haven't run any trails harder than a 3.5 (1-5 scale) but am trying to build a rig that can run 4-4.5 trails and still get me to work on Monday Stick out tongue  My favorite trails to date are: Martinez Mine Loop, Sunflower Mine, Lower Terminator and of course the Classic Back Road to Crown King.

Nice rig and sounds quite capable! The Martinez Mine and the mineral mountain area is what truly inspired me to off road. The Sunflower mine trail is great too, but I would have to say Martinez Canyon is the most scenic in the area that I have found thus far.

That is the same year and color as my Rubicon. Did you cut the finders or is that the Poison Spider fenders? Its kinda hard to tell from the picture.

Wow, sorry for it took so long to respond.  The front fenders are cut.  Here are some better pic's

That looks great for only being cut. I need to get rid of my damaged fenders and was saving for the poison spider edition, but this looks like a much  cheaper alternative.

Any extra hardware needed? Also, what did you use to cut it with, sawsall? And I assume you cut the back to for the fitment of the 35s? Do you get any rub at full articulation?

     Thanks! Ryan

    Re: Nice site

For strength I don't think that the PSC can be beat.  Money is always an issue for me so cutting was my obvious solution.  The only money that was spent was on some door trim.  I used it to cover up the cut edges on the fender.  I started out using a 4" grinder with a cut off wheel but that was a real pain in the behind.  I switched over to a sawzall  and it was alot faster and was much easier to cut a straight line.  The rear has not been cut.  The 35's fit fine in the rear when stuffing but will rub the front of the rear wheel well when drooping because I'm still running stock arms.  Once I get some adjustables I can kick the wheelbase back to where it should be and that will eliminate any rubbing.  It just barely rubs now though so I'm not too worried about it.
